For her birthday THIS year, she ran ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ to the book to find out what flowers she could harvest to put on her cake.

But she didnโ€™t stop there...

PURPLE SAURKRAUT ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฅฌ Ingredients 1 pound gre PURPLE SAURKRAUT ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿฅฌ

Ingredients
1 pound green and purple cabbage, thinly sliced
1 teaspoon kosher salt
1 teaspoon caraway seeds
1 teaspoon fennel seeds
1 teaspoon coriander seeds

Directions
1. Combine the cabbage and seasoning in a large bowl. 
2. Work the salt into the cabbage by massaging and squeezing the cabbage with your hands. The cabbage will become watery and limp โ€” like coleslaw. 
3. Pack the cabbage into a clean jar. If you have a canning funnel, this will make the job easier. 
4. Weigh the cabbage down with a smaller mason har to help keep the cabbage submerged beneath its liquid.
5. Cover the jar with a cloth and secure it with a rubber band or twine. This allows air to flow in and out of the jar.
6. Press the cabbage every few hours and add extra liquid, if needed. 
7. Ferment the cabbage for 3 to 10 days. Keep the sauerkraut away from direct sunlight and at a cool room temperature โ€” ideally 65ยฐF to 75ยฐF. Youโ€™ll start to see bubbles or white foam on the top. Itโ€™s done when you like the taste of it! Skimmed off the white foam either during fermentation or before refrigerating.

LEMONY POTATO SALAD ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿฅ” Ingredients 1/4 cup LEMONY POTATO SALAD ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿฅ”

Ingredients

1/4 cup dijon mustard 
1/4 cup olive oil
3 tablespoons lemon juice
2 tablespoons honey
1/4 teaspoon kosher salt 
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
2 cups finely chopped fresh herbs
1 cup raisins 
3 tablespoons capers 
8 to 10 red potatos, chopped 

Directions 

Whisk together mustard, oil, lemon juice, honey, salt, and pepper in a large bowl.

Cover the potatoes with cold water in a large pot. Bring to a boil then simmer over medium heat until fork-tender. Drain and transfer potatos to the bowl with the lemon vinegarette.

Add the chopped hebs, raisins, and capers. 

Serve warmed or chilled.

HOMEMADE CORN TORTILLAS ๐ŸŒฝ๐ŸŒฎ INGREDIENTS 1 c HOMEMADE CORN TORTILLAS ๐ŸŒฝ๐ŸŒฎ 

INGREDIENTS
1 cup masa harina 
3/4 to 1 cup hot water (not boiling) 

DIRECTIONS
Add the masa harina to a medium-sized mixing bowl. 

Slowly pour in the water, mixing with a wooden spoon or spatula, until the mixture comes together in a dough.

Using your hands, knead the dough until it is smooth and forms a cohesive ball. 

The amount of hot water needed will vary depending on the brand/type of masa harina that you use. If the dough is still sticky after kneading, add more masa marina. 

Cut a ziplock back into two circles, roughly the size of a tortilla. 

Add a piece of dough about the size of a golf ball in between the two plastic circles, then gently press the dough ball until it forms a 4- to 5-inch tortilla.

Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-high heat.ย Once hot, gently peel the tortilla away from the plastic wrap and lay the tortilla flat in the skillet.ย  

Cook the tortilla for about 40-60 seconds per side, flipping it once speckled brown spots begin to appear on the bottom of the tortilla.ย  

The tortillas will likely bubble up while cooking, especially on the second side, which is a good sign!ย  

Once it is cooked, transfer the tortilla to a tortilla warmer or a bowl wrapped in a clean kitchen towel, so that the tortillas do not dry out.

Ingredients

4 cups fresh basil leaves, packed
3/4 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon toasted sunflower seeds
2 teasspoons lemon juice
1 small garlic clove
1/2 cup grated Parm
1/2 cup grated Pecorino
Kosher salt, to taste 

Directions 

Add all the ingredients into a food processor and pulse until smooth and bright green.

1๏ธโƒฃ Prepare ahead of time: slice/cut (if needed), season, and pack your food smartly - and delicously!

2๏ธโƒฃ Stay close to the grill and watch your food: move it around as needed, adjust the fire temperature as needed 

3๏ธโƒฃ Trust your senses to know when your food is done, and try to enjoy it hot off the grill (unless itโ€™s a dish meant to be eaten cold)

Grilling not only results in delicious food, but also awakens our primal instinct to cook over fire under the open sky. Enjoy it!
